Specs On My 1977 5.0 Mustang II

Welcome! This page contains the history and up to date progress and specs on my
current project: a 1977 302 Mustang II Ghia that I've labeled "Project '77".

A few facts about my MII before I started the rebuild:
- Exterior: Paint was polar white with blue pinstripes, Ghia vinyl top, rear defrost, bumper guards w/black and white bumper trim
- Interior: Ghia deluxe interior, teal with cloth seats, flip-down map light, factory stereo FM radio, air conditioning, fold-down rear seat, wiper delay, digital dash clock (still works!)
- Engine: Stock 139 HP 302
- Tranny: 3-speed C4 automatic w/light shift kit
- Rear End: Code 3 (2.97)
- Exhaust: Rear exit duals with Thrush Turbos
| The picture on the left is my high school senior shot taken in 1993 in Bismarck, ND near the river. I parked the car 1 year after this picture was taken to head off for college at the ND State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

Project '77 Statistics:
As of 8/8/99:
The front apron is done & mounted, the roll pan is finished. The car will
lay a block of rubber without trying - I'm afraid to step on the gas any harder!
I have one small rust area to fix in the pass. side rear fender area and
it'll get painted. All bodywork is finished otherwise.

Interior
- Autometer Phantom style gauges (5&1/2" Tach & Speedo, 2&5/8"
Fuel, Oil Press, Water Temp, Alt, Trans Temp, Vacuum)
- New interior carpet, headliner & trunk carpet
- Interior panels covered in charcoal grey & black tweed
- '82 Mustang bucket seats, remove rear seat
- (Hopefully) front seat-belt system from late-model Mustang
- Interior color changed to black with charcoal grey & bright yellow accents
- Yellow driver and passenger side 5 point harnesses
Exterior
- Repainted with a Monroe Handler paint scheme, no emblems or side molding
- Ghia top removed, rectangular rear quarter windows removed and replaced with larger ones
- Rear 3 windows tinted
- Functional 1982 Turbo Mustang hood scoop
- Shelby-style side scoops - made functional to cool rear wheels/brakes
- Front bumper removed & 1965 Mustang GT-350 R Model front apron modified to fit (45lb loss)
- Rear bumper removed & Monroe Handler roll pan put in place (45lb loss)
- 2-post spoiler from late model Pontiac Firebird
Suspension, Steering & Wheel
- New upper & lower ball joints from McQuay & Norris
- Complete urethane bushing set for front suspension from Racer Walsh
- Front & rear solid aluminum sway bar mounts with with UHMG insulators and adjustable rod end end links
- Solid aluminum bushings with UHMG insulators for rear leaf mounts and shackles
- High durometer front spring eye bushings from Racer Walsh
- Competition Suspension package sway bars (1" front and 3/4" rear)
- 1976 manual rack to replace 1977 power rack (35lb loss)
- Entire car lowered approx. 2.5 inches via custom rear shackles, custom aluminum spring pad replacement blocks & cut front coil springs
- Custom-built subframe connectors & 1.25" medium-wall steel pipe engine compartment braces
- Competition Engineering 6 point roll bar
- 16x7 late-model 5-spoke "pony" wheels with BF Goodrich rubber
Engine
- Original 302 block, 2v heads, crank & piston rods
- Edelbrock Performer kit (4bbl intake manifold, 600cfm #1405 manual choke carb, #2122 camshaft and lifters)
- Ram-air system using a modified 1975 400cid LTDII air cleaner assembly
- Edelbrock Victor Series water pump
- Carter "Super Street" electric fuel pump with intertia, oil pressure and override switch
- Comp Cams roller-tip rockers from Summit Racing Mail Order
- Crane pushrods, guideplates & screw-in studs
- Edelbrock 351M Performer valve springs with chromemoly keepers
- Enlarged stainless-steel swirl polished intake (1.9) and exhaust (1.6) valves
- Professionally ported, polished and flowed heads
- Cloyes True-Roller double-roller timing chain
- Sealed Power pistons & rings - 9.7:1 compression
- All K&N breathers/air filters
- Chrome everywhere, complimets of Jeg's
- Accel Super-Stock coil with late-model 351W bracket
- MSW 8mm plug wire set
- Single-belt serpentine system from mid-eighties Ford 302 Wagon
- Champion spark plugs
- Dynomax headers & "turbo-tube" mufflers
- Electric fan with 195 degree thermostat and thermostat bypass switch
- Side-exit 2.5" dual exhaust with "Turbo Tube" mufflers
- A/C system completely removed (50lb loss)
Drivetrain
- Rebuilt C4 automatic with shift kit
- B&M MegaShifter with ratchet-shift
- 1976 fully webbed MII carrier 8" with 3.25 ratio gears
- Driveshaft safety loop from Summit Racing
