First of all, it's smaller. Smaller than the original Mustang and almost 18 inches shorter than last year's model.
And with less weight to carry, Mustang II is an extremely nimble car.

American-built production car: a V-6 that measures a very respectable 2.8 litres. Its short stroke tells you that this is one engine that can handle big numbers on the tach without straining.
With it you get the performance you want-without becoming the best customer at your neighborhood service station.
There's still more. And that's standard too.
In the car: an instrument panel with true gauges plus a cluster of warning lights. A tach is also standard. As is the top rail 4-speed transmission and rack-and-pinion steering.
Under the car: Mach 1 features a totally new rubber-buffered suspension, front anti-sway bar and a new isolated sub-frame suspension. Staggered rear shocks, disc brakes and radial tires with raised white letter are included, too.

On the car: Mach 1 gets a special paint treatment with blacked-out rear deck and lower body. Racing mirrors and styled steel wheels are also standard.
