Annual Power Show
Mustangs Unlimited Manchester CT Sept 8, 2002
This year's Power Show at Mustangs Unlimited only had 2 Mustang IIs!. We were expecting a third, but the owner showed up
and informed us he had sold the car to someone in Florida. I guess we won't be seeing that original low-miles KC again.
So, it was just Lucien Boutin and myself. And we couldn't even park together since someone assumed that there would only be
one car in the class and didn't volunteer to move once I arrived. And I almost didn't show up myself.
As I backed out of the garage and started driving out the driveway, something caught my eye in the garage.
So I backed up, opened the door and got out to look. There was a nasty looking puddle of hydraulic fluid on the garage floor.
So I took a look and it was coming out of my steering rack. The vary same rack that was rebuilt not more than 5K miles before.
The leak didn't seem to be bad, so I covered the spill with speedy-dry, popped in about a cup of Type F,
threw the rest of the quart in the trunk and off I went. The whole show, it only lost about 2 drops.
That was the 2nd time I had this rack rebuilt 8 years, maybe I should do the next one myself! Last time around I tried to get
a replacement, but it seems the 2-bolt racks can't be had in the rebuilt-aftermarket.
Anyway, On to the show...
Here are a few shots of the show field.
A couple of pics after the show.
My car is the silver coupe, Lucien's is the tan hatchback. As we all hate to see happen, the 3rd place trophy went unclaimed.
It get's lonely at these shows with very few Mustang IIs showing up. If you live in New England, New York, Eastern Pennsylvania or New Jersey
and feel like a day trip, Mustangs Unlimited hosts three shows per year. Check out the http://mustangsunlimited.com for dates.
