Mustang IIs at Carlisle
June 1, 2002

Carlisle 2002 saw a few of the usual faces for the All-Ford Nationals. This year also brought some more IIs out of the woodwork that haven't been out in public...at least, not that the rest of us have seen. The weekend was fairly cooperative, for once, and it was the largest turnout of total Fords at Carlisle to date. 2,100 Fords were in the showfield, and Ford even had some goodies for the public to look at, like the new Mustang Mach 1, the new Cobra, and the GT-40. But that's not what this page is about! Here are the deuces...enjoy!

Dave Wilson's '76 Cobra II. Dave took home second place in his class...congratulations Dave!

Todd Mitchell's '76 Cobra II. Rebuilt engine and all!

Steve and Mary Tonkin's black '78 King Cobra

An orange '78 King Cobra. This car was getting a photo shoot done on Saturday morning with Mustang Monthly, so keep an eye out around September or October for a write-up on this car.

A nice, original '74 Ghia. While this II had a few scuffs here and there, this car is 100% original...has not been repainted, engine has not been rebuilt...very clean, straight car for being 28 years old.

The propane-powered II coupe was again in attendance.

Better late than never: this '78 Cobra II showed up a little later in the afternoon on Saturday and was kind of strayed from the other IIs in the showfield, but it was noticed nonetheless.

An extra-special thanks goes out to Todd Mitchell this year...Todd printed up some nice flyers to further promote the Mustang II online experience, and it looks like somebody took notice. Mustang Weekly's write-up of the All-Ford Nationals has at least a small blurb about the site with a decent picture of the line of IIs. Check it out...it's on page 5 of the article.
